Film Transportation Company Base Craft Acquires Hollywood Trucks
— Acquisition (Article)
Biz New Orleans
Louisiana-based film transportation equipment company Base Craft LLC announced the acquisition of Hollywood Trucks LLC. Base Craft, founded in Los Angeles in 2001, had established its New Orleans-area headquarters in 2006 and expanded operations to Atlanta and Charleston.
Hollywood Trucks, founded in 2007 with the goal of providing eco-friendly transportation equipment and logistics, had maintained exclusive studio relationships in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Georgia with a fleet of over 200 units. The company also created the industry's first talent trailer fully powered by clean energy — the Ecoluxe line.
The acquisition included the assimilation of many Hollywood Trucks team members and expanded the Base Craft fleet to more than 450 production vehicles. Base Craft CEO Jeffrey Gowing stated: "Our goal in providing clean, reliable, energy-efficient, and state of the art industry-leading equipment continues to be our priority and core value at Base Craft."
Hollywood Trucks formalized its relationship with Second Line Stages, the state-of-the-art, LEED Silver-compliant film studio located in New Orleans' Lower Garden District. The partnership made Hollywood Trucks an exclusive transportation provider at one of the city's premier production facilities, home to acclaimed productions including "Django Unchained," "The Butler," "American Horror Story," and "21 Jump Street."
CEO Andre Champagne described the partnership as a natural fit. Hollywood Trucks had previously partnered with Second Line Stages on sustainability initiatives, including being the first fleet to commit to using B5 biodiesel blend. "We believe that the future lies in renewable and sustainable resources," Champagne noted.
The deal added Second Line Stages to Hollywood Trucks' growing portfolio of exclusive studio relationships, alongside Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Georgia and Mississippi Film Studios. At the time, the company maintained a fleet of 400 vehicles used for what Champagne described as "98 percent of the movies and TV productions being filmed" in Louisiana.

— Expansion (Article)
New Orleans CityBusiness
Hollywood Trucks announced it would establish a presence at the 43,000-square-foot Mississippi Film Studios in Canton, Mississippi, home to a sound studio and production offices on a six-acre campus. The deal represented Hollywood Trucks' second state expansion in 2014, following its exclusive five-year contract with Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Georgia.
Rick Moore of Mississippi Film Studios called the new partnerships "a real game changer for Mississippi film making." Moore said that when he took over Mississippi Film Studios, one of his major goals was to help Mississippi improve its film production infrastructure.
At the time, Hollywood Trucks operated a 400-unit fleet of more than 40 types of trucks, trailers, and specialty production equipment. The entire fleet, including the Ecoluxe trailers, would be available at Mississippi Film Studios. Direct spending by productions filming in the state was between $70 million and $80 million in 2014.

Beta versions had already been used by Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, Bruno Mars, Ryan Reynolds, Ben Affleck, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Chris Rock, and the casts of FX's "American Horror Story" and 20th Century Fox's "Fantastic Four." Hollywood Trucks was named to the Inc. 500|5000 in 2012 as one of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.
Growing Louisiana-Based Businesses Sustains Hollywood South
— Industry (Feature)
Forbes
Forbes profiled the growing ecosystem of Louisiana-based businesses sustaining the state's film industry, known as "Hollywood South." Louisiana had shown unprecedented growth in film production, putting the Southern state in competition with California and New York — states that had long dominated the industry.
Among the businesses profiled was Hollywood Trucks, founded by Louisiana native Andre Champagne, who started the company in 2007 with $100,000, one employee, five vans, and two stake-bed trucks. The company had since grown to a fleet of more than 300 vehicles and $5 million in annual revenue. Champagne said his company had a hand in "95% of all films made in the state."
The article explored how Louisiana's motion picture tax credit program — which helped the state top Film L.A.'s Feature Film Production Study as the number one location for filming — was creating a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. From 2002 to 2012, the industry created more than 14,000 jobs in Louisiana.
Hollywood Trucks secured an exclusive five-year contract to provide transportation services to Pinewood Atlanta Studios, located south of Atlanta in Fayetteville, Georgia. The deal marked a major expansion for the Louisiana-based company into Georgia's rapidly growing film market.
Brian Cooper, vice president of operations for Pinewood Atlanta Studios, stated: "We're delighted to embark on this exclusive deal with Hollywood Trucks, joining Pinewood's own venture into Georgia." Hollywood Trucks Georgia was among several Pinewood-affiliated vendors that received Fayetteville business licenses, with companies on-site employing nearly 150 people combined.
Since its founding in October 2007, Hollywood Trucks had supplied transportation for 600 film and TV-related projects, growing from seven vehicles to a fleet of more than 400 trucks, trailers, and specialty production vehicles. The deal also opened the door to a partnership with Pinewood's flagship studio in the United Kingdom.
Hollywood Trucks Follows Incentives Path for More Work
— Growth (Article)
New Orleans CityBusiness
Hollywood Trucks was following the trail of state film tax incentives to fuel its rapid expansion beyond Louisiana. Andre Champagne, who launched the company in 2007 with assistance through Louisiana's state tax incentive program after returning from Los Angeles, had built annual revenue from about $600,000 in its first year to $5 million by 2013.
The fleet had expanded from seven vehicles to more than 300, including the luxury Ecoluxe trailers used by A-list talent. The company had recently expanded to Georgia and had plans to open in London through a partnership with Pinewood Studios' parent company. Champagne said record numbers of films and television series "enabled companies like Hollywood Trucks to partner and innovate."
Will French, president of the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association, noted: "Now we represent about 14,000 jobs, up from roughly zero 10 years ago." The growing confidence among producers about the incentive program's future was driving further investment in local infrastructure companies like Hollywood Trucks.
Hollywood Trucks' Ecoluxe Trailer — Go Inside Where the Fantastic Four Cast Relaxes on Set
— Innovation (Feature)
225 Magazine
225 Magazine took readers inside Hollywood Trucks' revolutionary Ecoluxe trailer, used by the cast of 20th Century Fox's "Fantastic Four" filming in Baton Rouge. Founder and managing partner Andre Champagne oversaw the design of the high-tech trailer, which featured recycled aluminum doors replacing traditional RV-style construction, giving the Ecoluxe an eco-friendly, ultra-contemporary look.
The sophisticated interior was designed by noted southern interior decorator Ann Carter. Energy-efficient, low-voltage LED lighting illuminated countertops made entirely from post-consumer recycled plastics. A huge wraparound couch covered in eco-friendly fabric faced massive mirrored walls, with iPads, iMacs, flat-screen Samsung Smart TVs, and high-speed internet in every room.
Beta versions had already been used by stars including Brad Pitt — who was the first actor to use the trailer, showcased at his Make It Right Gala — Sandra Bullock, Bruno Mars, Ryan Reynolds, Ben Affleck, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, and the entire cast of FX's "American Horror Story."
Hollywood Trucks, the New Orleans-based entertainment transportation company founded by Andre Champagne in 2007, announced plans to significantly expand its fleet and geographic reach. The company, which started with just five vans and two stake-bed trucks, had grown to more than 200 vehicles by 2012 with the help of private investors.
That same year, Hollywood Trucks was named to the Inc. 500|5000, Inc. Magazine's annual list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. Champagne, a Louisiana native who returned from Los Angeles to capitalize on the state's booming film incentive program, had grown annual revenue from approximately $600,000 in the company's first year to several million dollars.
The fleet served what Champagne described as "98 percent of the movies and TV productions being filmed" in Louisiana. The company's growth mirrored the explosive rise of Louisiana's film industry, with Hollywood Trucks filling a critical infrastructure gap by providing production-ready vehicles, trailers, and specialty equipment to studios filming across the state.
